Entrepreneurial Mindset vs. Employee Mindset

As a professional athlete in a team sport, you are an employee. The IRS classifies you as an employee. Your team, coaches, agent and manager, all think of you as an employee.

And to them, you are.

But I recommend, strongly, that you think of yourself as the Business Owner, and an Entrepreneur. And you think of your life in sports as a Business, not a Job, not even a Career.

Goals

“Set your goals high, and don’t stop till you get there.”

– Bo Jackson, baseball and football player. The only athlete to be named an All-Star in two major American sports.

Preparation

“It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.”

“Bear” Bryant, College Football Player & 25-yr Head Coach, Alabama

Self-Discipline

“Without self-discipline, success is impossible, period.”

– Lou Holtz, the only college football coach to lead six different programs to bowl games

Persistence

“Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement”
